MODERN HOME REVIVAL

Location: Mississauga, ON

Scope: Kitchen and Bathroom Design, Material Selections

Focus: Cohesive material language, visual flow, and a balanced sense of openness throughout the home

Challenge

Our client came to ORIA Interiors seeking guidance in selecting finishes for a full-home remodel, including the bathroom, kitchen, living room, and stairway. The existing interior felt outdated and disconnected, with each space lacking a cohesive design language.

The challenge was not only to modernize the home, but to create a sense of continuity across multiple rooms — ensuring that each space felt distinct in function, yet unified in overall expression.

Approach

The design focused on developing a material palette that could carry consistently throughout the home while adapting to the needs of each space.

A balance between warmth and refinement guided the selection process. Rich wood tones were introduced to add depth and natural character, while soft, layered whites were used to enhance light and create a more open, breathable atmosphere. Rather than relying on contrast, the palette was built on subtle variation — allowing materials to feel connected without becoming repetitive.

Each room was approached as part of a larger composition. Finishes were selected not in isolation, but in relation to adjacent spaces, ensuring visual flow from one area to the next. This allowed transitions — from kitchen to living room, or stairway to upper level — to feel intentional and seamless.

Particular attention was given to how materials would be experienced daily: how light interacts with surfaces, how tones shift throughout the day, and how each space supports both function and atmosphere.

Outcome

The result is a cohesive, contemporary home that feels both elevated and easy to live in.

The bathroom takes on a calm, spa-like quality through restrained, layered finishes. The kitchen becomes a bright, functional centre for daily life, while the living room and stairway connect the home visually, reinforcing a consistent design language throughout.

What was once a collection of disconnected spaces is now a unified environment — light-filled, warm, and thoughtfully composed. The home feels current without being trend-driven, and aligned with how the family lives today.
